Biles speaks following her performances on balance beam and floor exercise
DOHA: Comments from Simone Biles of the USA after she won bronze on balance beam and gold on floor exercise in the women’s apparatus finals at Aspire Dome on Saturday.
On rebounding after a shaky performance on balance beam to win gold on floor exercise:
“To be completely honest, I’m really just happy that I stayed on the beam because going into these World Championships I wasn’t as confident as I used to be on beam. So I think it’s a step forward and hopefully from here on out it can only improve. It was really easy to turn around and go into floor with an open mind.”
On her overall performance in the championships (four gold, one silver and one bronze medals; first female artistic gymnast to win four world all-around titles):
“I am definitely very happy, especially to win a medal in every event. No matter what colour the medal, I’m really proud of myself. It feel really rewarding because I’ve put a lot of hard work and dedication into this sport, so I couldn’t be happier. I’m really proud of my performances here. I wish some of them would have been better but I’m really proud of the outcome.”
On what makes her the proudest of her accomplishments at the championships:
“There’s a lot to be proud of, but I’m most proud that I’m here, made all of the event finals, medaled in all of the events and I survived.”
