Copenhagen to host 2021 FIG Artistic World Championships
Lausanne, Switzerland: The 2021 Artistic FIG World Championships will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The unanimous decision was taken at the FIG Executive Committee here on Thursday.
The Worlds, the first of the 2021-2014 Olympic cycle leading to the Paris Games, will be held on October 18-24 at the new Royal Arena, a state-of-the-art sporting venue inaugurated in 2017 in the Danish capital.
"As Hans Christian Andersen has inspired the imagination of thousands of children around the world with his famous tales that give food for thought, I hope that these World Championships will inspire the young generation by showing the values of sport," said FIG President Morinari Watanabe.
Before the 50th edition, the next Worlds will take place in Doha this from October 25 to 3 November, and in Stuttgart (GER) in 2019 (October 4-13).
“It's a great achievement to be awarded the World Championships. An event of this format fits very well into the course and development we have for the sport in Denmark,” said Danish Gymnastics Federation Anders Jacobsen.
