Mori makes most of spotlight in sixth subdivision
DOHA: Italy saved its best for last as veteran Lara Mori, the final performer, danced and tumbled to the highest all-around total of the sixth subdivision of women’s qualifications at Aspire Dome on Saturday.
“It’s fantastic for me because floor is my best event,” said Mori of her anchor position on floor exercise. “I love it because I’m strong and I have emotion.”
Italy scored 156.830 points to rank sixth in team standings after six subdivisions.
Mori, who placed 12th all-around at the 2017 Worlds in Montreal, said her team competed credibly and cohesively.
“We performed well but some of the exercises were so-so,” she said. “I like the unity in the team.”
Qualifications continue with five subdivisions on Sunday.
